Sunset was when the more fearful prey came out, thus, when Loki made his appearance. If it could be called an appearance. The oriental short-hair cat was a sleek and silky black, his fur blending into the shadows and the cover of the setting sun with ease, making him almost appear invisible, aside from those piercing green eyes. Only the more skillful creatures would be able to detect where he was- mainly felines since they had such good eyes.
He figured a nice and large rabbit will be hanging around here somewhere, eating a meal of clover and grass before heading off to bed. Too bad his bed time would not be coming now... or ever. The dumb creature's last meal, and Loki's first of many. Once he'd find the right prey at least. It'd be a meal fit for a God.
Sliding skillfully between weathered gravestones, the mischievous feline kept both large ears perked, listening for danger, whilst his nose began to sniff out the possible meal. Paws fell silently against the dirt, feeling no remorse for any possible human bodies rotting underneath the ground he now walked upon. Humans were stupid, bumbling creatures. They always had been. He didn't understand how they had the power to run things around here. If it were up to him, he'd be the one running this stupid ball of prey and uselessness. Ah, well. He'd possibly fix that very soon. He was strong and he felt he had the capability to rule large amounts of animals- which he honestly would have that capability. If he was a bit more sane and a little less cruel. Maybe even a bit more level-headed.
Placing one paw in front of the other, Loki paced around the graveyard, still scenting for his prey. He continued to move smoothly, without faltering, his tail hanging loosely behind him. If he wasn't alone- his tail would be up, body language that said he was the "top cat" around here. Plus, he didn't want his prey to somehow see his tail- even a silhouette against the sky.
He was alone, in the dark, pacing, trying to find his prey and figuring how to make his next move. He didn't like being alone, he realized as he continued his search for food. Surely he wouldn't let anyone else know that he felt that way, but it was something that made his chest hurt. He longed for acceptance, longed to be looked up to. Longed to be everything that he expected of himself.
And he would make everyone understand that. Everyone would get it. They would follow him like the God he thought himself to be. They'd wonder- why didn't we believe him? Why hadn't we followed him before?
Snickering gleefully at this thought, Loki glanced to the trees, stark black against the sky. His day would come. He'd be sure of it. Turning quickly, he flicked his tail, ears perking up confidently, and his tail flicking to the air like a banner. He'd have to find prey later... for the scent of another predator lurked.

Sunset. The borderline between night and day, most predators enjoyed the nighttime as night was the time that most prey decided to come out. However, that was the problem most predators came out to hunt...
The tiny black she-cat that sat upon the roof of the cathedral gazed fearfully around the graveyard. Pale eyes stretched wide as she searched for signs of cats below her. She hated how difficult it was to constantly watch for predators while trying to keep herself well-fed. The cat took a brief reprieve from her watching by lowering her head to bite off a piece of chicken, a succelent chicken leg that had been a lucky find while dumpster diving. Such finds would probably become non-existent when all of the humans died off. Pity.
After biting off another piece she raised her head and glanced around once more, the darkness had finally come but with her eyes she could still see just fine. Her dark pelt ensured that it would be difficult for others to find locate her. Good. Very good... Maybe that meant she could finish her chicken in peace.
With a few rapid bites all but a few small hunks of chicken and the the tasty bone of course were left. She finished it just in time for out of the corner of her eye she saw a flicker of movement. Her head whipped around and she stared, pale blue eyes locked on the spot, only to find that the movement happened elsewhere and it was followed by a flash of green. Now she was sure of it... there was another cat nearby. One that wasn't out for her blood...
Flowing quite easily into her optmistic persona she picked up her chicken bone and eased her way off the roof. She landed on the ground and sniffed the air, opening her mouth to better taste the scent. It was a tom, maybe around her age she wasn't completely sure though. What she was sure of was where the tom was for his green eyes were unmistakable on the ground, she was sure her own blue eyes were the same.
No need for her to be rude though, since she'd spied to the tom first she should introduce herself. She dropped the chicken bone on the ground and with a large smile on her face and her tail raised in the air in a friendly manner she spoke, "Hiya! I couldn't help but notice you here! Are you communing with the spirits of the dead humans? Hoping they'll give you something like this?" She pawed at the bone at her feet and snickered as her eyes surveyed the black tom before her.
"Words are this color!" These are thoughts!

His tail held still, halfway in the air, twitching at the end, expressing his annoyance at being bothered, and his displeasure at the other's words. At first he did not speak though, his nose taking in the other's scent, trying to sense if she had any dangerous feel about her.
No, she was just a cheeky little female... who spoke of some barmy things. She was much smaller than he, and she looked like she had slightly thicker fur, but over all, she was black like he, and had piercing eyes such as himself. Overall, they were more similar than Loki would care to admit.
Communing with the spirits of dead humans? Loki believed not of such things, and even if he had, he would not be making contact with those of humans. No animal should be foolish enough to even go near humans, they were all crude little buggers who would in the end harm smaller creatures such as they. He was glad they were dying off, or whatever was going on with the idiots.
"Tch. You are foolish to believe that someone such as I would mingle with such pitiful humans, dead or alive." He wrinkled his nose at the sight and scent of the chicken leg the other cat had beneath her paws. It held no appeal to him, the scent of it making his tummy flip and his whiskers twitch in disgust. Humans had had their grimy fingers all over that before she had taken it.
"I would never lower myself to eating such filth," he said boldly then, tail lashing once behind him. He showed no signs of attacking, but he appeared defensive and offended. "I catch my own prey, prey that does not hold the horrid stench of the humans." He turned slightly then, an obvious sign that he felt far from threatened from her and thought little of her thus far.

Had she come on too strong? Maybe her teasing had been a little too abrupt with such a new person, maybe she should have watered down her words before speaking. She didn't want to antagonize the bigger tomcat, fighting was the last thing she wanted to end up doing. However, the perked ears and twitching tail signalled annoyance moreso than aggression. Annoyed she could deal with far better than angry.
When the tom's eyes met with her chicken leg, instead of envy on his face she saw disgust. How could anyone be disgusted at such a rare prize? There was hardly any work involved in getting it, her mother had trained her well in the art of searching for food in human trash cans. Hmph, and she had been thinking about sharing... Not now though.
As the tom turned partway around she shrugged, not at all put off by his behavior. After all, if he didn't want any of the meat and insisted upon being snobby then she'd finish off the food herself. "Well, more for us less picky cats then. Besides, it doesn't smell horrid to me, smells like food. Easy to get food at that!" She lowered her head and ripped a piece of meat loose, waving it for a bit until it disappeared down her gullet when she swallowed it. She ran her tongue around her mouth and smiled, eyeing the male keenly. "I bet you've never even tried chicken before and like my mom always says 'if you've never tried it you don't know if you like it'." She ripped another piece from the bone and threw it into the air above her. She tilted back her head and opened her mouth preparing to catch the piece in her waiting maw but the idea didn't go as planned... The chicken fell and bounced off her nose, the black cat snapped her mouth shut just after her nose was struck as a reflex, once the chicken bounced from her nose it landed on the ground in front of the tomcat. "Woops, that didn't quite go as planned... Please, allow me to remove this 'filth' from in front of you." Without invitation she reached forward with her forepaw and hooked the chicken with a claw and popped it into her mouth with a satisfied twitch of her whiskers.
"Don't think of me rude for asking, but were you out looking for prey before I, ah-dropped in?" Nothing signalled the amusement for her words except the tremble of her whiskers that she tried her best to keep from showing. Dropping in... from the roof! Ah, Ammy you silly kitty.
"Words are this color!" These are thoughts!

She spoke as if it was a delicacy, as if it was something special when she had probably picked it from some trash can like a rat. It sent a shiver down the tall tom cat's spine, holding in a hiss to display his displeasure.
"What are you? A rat? Feasting on such filth is disgraceful. That free meal of yours was found in a human trash can, was it not? You are dining on human dirt. If it is inedible for them, it is certainly inedible for a feline. Especially one such as I," Loki explained vigorously, his tail lashing once more.
"So indeed, I have never consumed filth such as that. Nor do I plan on doing so. Ever."
Loki truly did not have a filter, he just spouted out whatever he was feeling, no matter if it would make the other animal upset or not. And frankly, the oriental short hair could not quite bring himself to truly care. He did not know this female, he owed her nothing, therefore, she would be treated such as every other animal beneath him.
He was about to speak again- to order the other to not eat in front of him such as that, it was making him feel ill and she had completely interrupted his hunt. Hungry and irritable, the lanky male scooted backwards away from the chicken that landed in front of him, and further away from the black female.
"At least be neater while feasting on that filth," Loki hissed bitterly, green eyes blinking and narrowing defensively at her as she ate the piece. "I have never seen such outrageous behavior in a female." He admitted, though sounded possibly even less friendly than before. Not that he came off friendly at all.
He definitely appeared quite displeased, tail flicking at the end again, not at all amused by her 'joke.'
"As a matter of fact, I was in the middle of quite the hunt."
