Years ago, before your grand-sire was even a foal, when there was peace in the Fables. The two rulers, Ctaris and Axce, were at peace. Ctaris, noble and saintly, lead his followers in the ways of peace and serenity, but Axce, cruel and manipulative, lead his minions in the ways of war and deceit. Yet, a peace remained between the two, the balance of night and day remained stable. Storm clouds loomed on the horizon, however, threatening the tense peace that had been forged. All along the borders of darkness equines had been disappearing, no one seemed able to explain.
A great meeting was called, summoning the leaders of all the lands to meet under their great kings. The air was tense and crackling with electricity as the bonds of peace were strained between the meeting Kings and Lords. The followers of Ctaris and his ways of Light were anxious over the goings on, while Axce's minions of darkness were getting riled at the insinuation that they were responsible for the disappearance of the equines. Discussions got heated and finally broke into arguments. Admid the turmoil, none saw Axce make his move. After a brief struggle Ctaris lay dead and Axce called his minions to himself as they left the meeting place. As they left, the Light followers swore vengeance for their fallen King and declared war upon the Darks.
The blood fued carried on for generations. Great wars were fought with many casualties on both sides. There were those of both alliances who did not partake in the wars. Branded traitors to their kin, some were killed but most were banished. Overcoming their differences, they formed their own neutral alliance - intertwining beliefs of Light and Dark. Without a home, they wandered as nomads before scouting groups went through the misty forest to find a secluded, untouched valley just beyond. As it was unclaimed lands, the those taking no part in the war took over and came to call it home. Still nomadic in nature, many still wander the lands they previously called home where they were captured and held hostage or run out of the lands.
Slowly the fueding and bloodlust faded as generation after generation watered down the history that led them to this point. Skirmishes are still common amongst the Lights and Darks, with the Neutrals still maintaining themselves as nomadic & separate from the fighting. Will there be peace? Or will new Kings rise and begin the bloodlust anew between the two Alliances? For whom will you take your stand? A single grain of rice can tip the scale - one equine can be the difference between victory and defeat.
