basic information
and every lesson forms a new scar
NAME Cisco
NICKNAMES Cis, Cissy, or Co
SPECIES Canine
BREED German Shepherd
GENDER Male
AGE Four years; spring pup
appearance
they never thought you'd make it this far
EYES Cisco's eyes are a plain, muddy brown colour.
COAT Cisco bears the typical coat of a German Shepherd- tan, with black fur splashed across his back and chest.
MARKINGS The only significant markings Cisco bears are the typical black points of a German Shepherd. He does wear a chain around his neck, from when he was younger- it was his collar, and despite now being a stray, he hasn't had the heart to take it off, regardless of what others may think.
OVERALL Cisco may not be much of a looker, but he isn't particularly ugly either, and he wouldn't have it any other way. He doesn't want to be the one to stand out in a crowd, and his average appearance keeps him blending in quite easily- though, as far as the humans are concerned, a dog is a dog, and his appearance does nothing to change the fact that he does have to watch his back. He is on the tall side for a German Shepherd, though not particularly oddly proportioned. He has a lean build, with his shoulders and haunches being his more muscular parts though he isn't exactly 'buff'. Overall, he's the dog that your eyes would scan over quickly, the one that wouldn't stick in your memory as anything but that- just another dog on the street.
persona
but turn around, they've surrounded you
LIKES Solitude, anonymity, the idea of a greater good, reminiscing, knowing that there is still good in the world, sunny and warm days.
DISLIKES Selfishness, standing out, winter, unnecessary bloodshed, large crowds, cats, injustice, being called a 'dreamer'.
STRENGTHS Optimistic, independent, intelligent.
WEAKNESSES Nostalgic, ignorant, naive.
HOPES To learn what happened to his brothers and father.
FEARS The loss of all things 'good' in the world.
TRAITS Optimistic, naive, intelligent, solitary.
OPTIMISTIC >> Despite the grim circumstances the world has found itself in, Cisco sees the bright side of life. He notices the beauty in the things around him, even when surrounded by ugliness. He's the one most likely to notice that small, random act of selflessness during difficult times, and it warms his heart a little to know that there is still hope in the world.
NAIVE >> Cisco is not a dreamer, for one thing, though he is naive. His optimism sometimes clouds his logical thinking, though unlike a dreamer would, he doesn't see what isn't there- he just chooses to ignore what is there- the bad side of everything- and focus almost entirely on the good. There is a difference between naivety and being a dreamer, and Cisco is living proof of that.
INTELLIGENT >> Even though his naivety suggests otherwise, Cisco is quite intelligent. He knows how the world works, and has come to enjoy observing his surroundings when able to. He catches on to things quickly, and he's a fast learner when he wants to be. Most of his knowledge is quite trivial, though- his mother was quite the smart dog herself, and told stories quite often. His knowledge may not be particularly useful, but it does give him something to think about when he has nothing better to do, at least.
SOLITARY >> Unlike some dogs, Cisco does not thrive off of the company of others- in fact, he quite enjoys being by himself, though he definitely wouldn't protest to a companion every now and then. He learned to take care of himself at a young age and therefore is well adapted in the ways of the lone stray dog, and though he may miss his old life, he does know that there's no going back and instead allows himself to use what alone time he has to think and reminisce.
history
it's a showdown and nobody comes to save you now
MOTHER Aspen, deceased.
FATHER Mercury, status unknown.
SIBLINGS Venice and Caspin, both status unknown.
IMPORTANT FIGURES None.
STORY Cisco, Venice, and Caspin were born to a female German Shepherd named Aspen before the outbreak that caused the decline of the human population. She was owned by humans; a pet, and her mate Mercury had been a stray. He rarely came around to see his pups or Aspen, and though the latter often pined for him, the pups felt no desire to meet their father- they couldn't care less about his existence, in all honesty.
All three pups were kept by the humans who owned Aspen, seeing as the family had multiple children and a large house with a large yard. It was, for all intents and purposes, a farm without the crops or livestock. The pups spent the first two years of their lives here. However, Aspen's owners were some of the first to die in the outbreak of plague that killed so many, and she decided to take her pups and escape before the situation escalated to something worse. As they fled the farm, Mercury showed up and, knowing Aspen and the three pups would have enough trouble avoiding humans in such a large group, offered to take the pups with him- he was more skilled at avoiding humans, after all. Both Venice and Caspin went with their father, though Cisco chose to stay with Aspen, and the groups went their separate ways.
As Aspen and Cisco fled into the meadows that surrounded what had once been their home, though, it became obvious that something was wrong with the former. They stopped to allow her time to rest, a sudden weakness having overcome her, though she died shortly afterwords. Cisco was devastated by his mother's death but continued on, knowing she would have wanted him to.
He decided to attempt to regroup with his father and brothers, and began trying to retrace his steps. However, as he tried to catch his family's trail, he was spotted by a human and pursued. He was able to easily outrun the human, but it had been armed and continued trying to track him long after he'd disappeared. The human gave up eventually, though by this time, Cisco was far off track and he'd lost the trail of his remaining family.
For the next two years, Cisco continued to try to survive, dodging humans and trying to simply stay alive as he built on the knowledge that his mother had already implanted in his head through stories and facts. He finally reached a city in the distance of the meadows and found a deserted house that he has come to call his home. It is rarely disturbed by humans or other animals alike, and it provides sufficient shelter from the elements, which is good enough for him. Other than that, he is, for the most part, a wanderer- he seeks the company of no one, though part of him still longs to learn the fate of his father and brothers.
